Blackrock makes the headlines as further flooding is predicted for midday today

Blackrock has received plenty of photographic coverage in recent days due to the stormy weather but the village has even made the front page of a national paper today.

Meanwhile, a further flood warning has been issued for parts of Dundalk, Blackrock and Carlingford for midday today.

Weather warning issued for tonight

A weather warning has been issued for later tonight by Met Éireann, with strong winds and rain expected.

A yellow weather warning is in place for Co Louth tonight, with heavy rain and gusts of up to 100kph expected.

Flooding has already been reported in a number of areas this afternoon, including at Blackrock, Gyles Quay and in a number of areas in Dundalk, including the Inner Relief Road, the Fairgreen Road and the Newry Road.

Motorists are advised to take care.

Main Street in Blackrock has been closed due to extensive flooding this lunchtime.

The Rock Road, beside the Loakers, is also reported to be impassable at present.

Meanwhile, extensive flooding has also made part of the Inner Relief Road at the entrance to the Spirit Store and the Fair Green at Tom Bellew Park virtually impassable after the Castletown River burst its banks.
