Dundalk U19s and U17s both at home at start of league campaigns

DundalkCrest2010The fixture lists for the SSE Airtricity under 19 and under 17 leagues were released today.

Dundalk U-19s are in section three alongside Derry City, Finn Harps, Letterkenny Rovers, Sligo Rovers and Drogheda Utd.

They will kick-off their campaign at home to Derry City on Sunday September 6th.

Meanwhile the U-17s are also in section three alongside Drogheda United, Finn Harps, Derry City, Shelbourne, Bohemians and Monaghan Utd-Cavan FP side managed by former Lilywhites boss Sean McCaffrey.

Dundalk have no fixture on week one, August 9th, so will kick-off their campaign at home to Finn Harps on Sunday August 16th.

Meanwhile, former Dundalk striker Patrick Hoban has been given the number 9 shirt for Oxford Utd ahead of the 2015/2016 campaign. The Galway man, who top scored for the Lilywhites with 20 league goals last season, joined the League One side before Christmas having helped Dundalk to the league title last season.

Dundalk FC will take on Finn Harps in Oriel Park in one of their final pre-season fixtures on Friday February 28th.

While the Oriel Park outfit are yet to announce their pre-season plans, Finn Harps have announced the fixture in what is likely to be their final outing before their First Division campaign begins a week later.

The match will also offer Dundalk a chance to prepare themselves for their league opener away to neighbours Drogheda Utd in United Park on Friday March 7th.

While no further pre-season plans are known as yet, Dundalk’s first competitive outing of 2014 will take place on Monday February 17th when they travel to Richmond Park to face St Patrick’s Athletic in the Leinster Senior Cup.

They will then face Coleraine in the first leg of their Setanta Cup quarter-final clash on Monday February 24th, with the return leg pencilled in for Monday March 10th.

Meanwhile, Stephen Kenny is rumoured to be closing in on the capture of former Drogheda Utd goalkeeper Gabriel Sava, with his signature possibly being completed later today.

Sava was due to travel with the PFAI squad to the FIFPro Tournament in Norway yesterday but pulled out of the squad at the last minute and was replaced by Donegal man and former Manchester United netminder, Joe Coll.
