The Coca Cola truck parked at Tesco Extra this morning
It’s finally here, the day you’ve all been waiting for!
No, not Christmas, but the Dundalk Santa Fun Run.
The event, which is aiming to break another world record, gets underway from 6.30pm this evening at the back of the Tesco Extra shopping centre. From there it will make its way to the Market Square.
Also at Tesco tonight will be the Coca Cola truck, which features in the famous advert with the tune ‘Holiday’s are coming’.
The truck is already parked outside Tesco this morning but will be lit up and available for people to check out properly from 4.30pm until 9pm.
People can still get involved in the Santa Run today. The distance is only 1km and you can walk, run or crawl. Registration can be made online at www.dundalk.ie/santa and make sure to collect your race tag and santa suit at the Santa Run HQ at Pulse Pacemaker, Park Street. Registration fee is €10 per Adult and €5 per child.
As a result of the run, a number of roads in the town will be closed between 6pm and 8pm to accommodate it.
These include:
- Ramparts Road (from Junction with Stapleton Drive to junction with Thomas Street)
- Thomas Street
- Dublin Street (from junction with Thomas Street to junction with Park Street)
- Park Street (from junction with Anne Street to The Demesne)
- Market Square
- The Long Walk
- Griffith Court/Laurels
- Church Street (from Junction with the Laurels to Clanbrassil Street)
- Clanbrassil Street
The alternative routes and traffic diversions will be sign posted on site for the various section closures.
