The local test centre recently relocated to the Crowne Plaza Hotel

Just over half of people who take their driving test in Dundalk pass the test.

That’s according to new figures compiled by The Irish Times, which show that the local test centre has one of the highest failure rates in the country.

The Dundalk test centre’s pass rate for 2013 was 50.83% was just below the national average of 54% with only 14 of the country’s 48 other test centres faring worse.

In 2012, Dundalk’s pass rate was slightly higher at 52.57% while it was even higher again in 2011 at 53.3%.

The test centre recently relocated from the Fairways Hotel to the Crowne Plaza Hotel with an eight week waiting list for a test at present.

Groups make alternative arrangements following closure of The Fairways Hotel

fairwaysFollowing the closure of The Fairways Hotel yesterday a number of groups have been on to let people know about alternative arrangements.

The Road Safety Authority have confirmed that their driving test centre has now been moved to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Meanwhile, Fiona Pepper’s Slimming World group has been moved to The Imperial Hotel. It takes place Thursdays at 3.30pm, 5.30pm, 7.30pm and on Fridays at 9.30am.

The group will meet on the first floor, with access via a lift or stairs from the main door.

Meanwhile, Kayleigh Fisher’s Slimming World group, who normally meet on Tuesday nights, will now be located in The Windmill Bar on Quay Street.
