Walking tour of Dundalk next Friday

The Mourne Cooley Gullion Geotourism Project will be hosting a walking tour of Dundalk this day week, Friday April 25th.

The urban geology and archaeology field trip of the town will be led by geologist Dr Siobhán Power and archaeologist Dr Vanessa Ryan, daughter of local councillor Jim Ryan.

The meeting point for the walk is the Dundalk Tourist Office at the Market Square, with the walk getting underway at 2.30pm.

Light refreshments will be served after the walk with further details available by emailing Vanessa at vanessa.ryan@newryandmourne.gov.uk

Lecture on geology and archaeology of Bellurgan and Proleek next week

The Mourne Cooley Gullion Geotourism group will host a lecture on the geology and archaeology of Bellurgan and Proleek in Bellurgan Park on Wednesday January 22nd at 7pm.

The lecture will be given by geologist Dr Siobhán Power and archaeologist Dr Vanessa Ryan, who is daughter of local councillor Jim Ryan.

Light refreshments will be served on the night and while the event is free, booking is essential by calling either 028-30256650 or by emailing Vanessa.ryan@newryandmourne.gov.uk

Geotourism meet and greet in Dundalk this Friday

Dr Siobhán Power and local woman Dr Vanessa Ryan of the Mourne Cooley Gullion Geotourism project will be hosting a meet and greet afternoon this Friday from 2pm to 5pm in the tourist office at Market Square to share their achievements so far.

The project is aimed at increasing tourist numbers to this area by focusing on the fabulous geological features and beautiful landscape that exists in parts of the counties Down, Louth and Armagh.
