Chapel Street to close for 10 day period from tomorrow

Louth County Council will temporarily close Chapel Street form the junction with Jocelyn Street to the junction with New Street from tomorrow.

The road will be closed to public traffic from Wednesday July 29th to Friday August 7th to facilitate road resurfacing.

Local access will be provided with diversions in place for all other motorists.

Louth County Council have announced their intention to temporarily close Chapel Street form the junction with Jocelyn Street to the junction with New Street.

The road will be closed to public traffic from Wednesday July 29th to Friday August 7th to facilitate road resurfacing.

Local access will be provided with diversions in place for all other motorists.

Ardee Road in Dundalk remains closed this morning following flooding

The Ardee Road in Dundalk remains closed this morning following heavy flooding in the last few days.

The R171 is closed from the turn off at the back of Dundalk Gaol to the turn off to Knockbridge.

The Green Road in Dromiskin is also closed.

Diversions are in place in both areas and motorists are asked to take this into consideration when embarking on their journeys this morning.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the Inner Relief Road in Dundalk at the Barrack Street junction due to a serious accident.

Two units of Dundalk Fire Service, an ambulance and gardaí are on the scene at present with diversions in place due to the road being blocked.

No information on possible injuries has been made yet.

Doylesfort Road reopens following car crash

The Doylesfort Road in Dundalk has reopened following a serious collision last night.

This is the second crash to occur on the road, located between the Armagh and Newry Roads, in the space of a few days following on from a collision between a car and a truck on Friday.

Gardaí preserved the scene over night and only reopened the road around 4pm.

Dundalk Fire Service had a number of units at the scene following the incident, which occurred shortly after 9.30pm last night.

Two people were injured in the incident, one seriously. A woman in her 30s, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and later transferred to the Beaumont.
