One Directioners will be able to skate to the sounds of 1D’s Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn with the announcement that a number of themed skating sessions are to be included into the Dundalk On Ice timetable.

Dundalk on Ice is scheduled to open on the Market Square on Saturday, November 23 and will run until January 6th next.

Dedicated One Direction sessions will take place on Friday, December 6th from 5.30pm to 7.50pm

Given the huge queues which formed when 1D concert tickets went on sale earlier this year, pre booking is expected to be fast and furious for the sessions which will feature 100 per cent One Direction songs including Best Song Ever, Story of My Life, One Way or Another and That’s What Makes You Beautiful

Dundalk on Ice Project Manager Martin McElligott said this week: “We have looked at a number of themed skate sessions over the six week run of Dundalk on Ice.

“There is a huge One Directioner population in and around Dundalk and throughout Louth so we are expecting a great turnout and swift pre-booking both online and via the ticket office at Dundalk BIDS.

“There is no additional charge for booking the themed sessions but again I would suggest that the One Directioners book early to avoid disappointment.”

The first themed event will be a Disney afternoon on Sunday November 24th from 4.20pm to 6.40pm where junior princesses, not forgetting little Buzz Lightyear’s can take to the ice with music from Disney blockbusters. Disney classic 101 Dalmations will be played on the Big Screen while Disney face-painting will also be available as will Balloon ‘n’ Bashes and Candy Buffet. Mums and Dads, if they are not on the ice can relax in Jackie’s, Panama Coffee or Barry’s, all of which will be open for business. While they can skate in fancy dress if they wish, it is advised that Disney enthusiasts wear their fancy dress over warm clothing.

Excitement is building up to the opening of Dundalk on Ice and Fiona Cunningham of Dundalk BIDS, which will be home to the Ticket Office, said they were receiving plenty of enquiries.

“Once the news went out that Dundalk on Ice would be taking place we have been getting phone calls re booking tickets. There has been a really positive response and now we can’t wait for the opening on November 23rd.”

Further information on Dundalk on Ice is available from www.dundakonice.com, Facebook and Twitter or contact Dundalk BIDs on the Market Square at 042 9352842.
