Local singer/songwriters nominated for Best Male Solo Act award

Two local singer/songwriters have been nominated for the Pure M Magazine’s Best Male Solo Act award for 2015.

David Keenan and Finnian (Kelleher) are both in line for the prestigious award.

Keenan shot to public recognition earlier this year with his performance of ‘El Paso’ in the local Maxi Taxi and after landing a record deal has followed it up with tracks such as ‘The Friary’ and ‘The Bike Sheds’.

Finnian, meanwhile, continues to work on a new album having earned a reputation as one of the hardest working singer/songwriters in the North East.

Amongst those David and Finnian will be competing with for the coveted prize are the likes of Gavin Glass, Paddy Casey, Mundy, David Kitt, Duke Special and Gavin James.

All acts nominated will go through a judging process by top Irish industry heads and members of Pure M magazine staff. The nominated list will be shortened down to a finalists list and each finalist will be invited to the live award show.

No local gig for David Gray

David Gray will not be performing in Co Louth as part of his mini Irish tour next month.

The British singer announced earlier this month that he was taking a break from the studio to play at small venues around Ireland.

That immediately opened up the possibility of a show in either the TLT in Drogheda or The Spirit Store in Dundalk.

Fans were asked to vote for where they would like to see him play but unfortunately the Wee County has missed out on an opportunity to bring the British singer to the area.

The nearest gig will be in Bangor Abbey in Co Down on Tuesday December 3rd, where David will be performing old and new material with a very special band including Caroline Dale, David Kitt, Niamh Farrell, Robbie Malone and Lisa O’Neill, who will provide the support on the night.

David will also be performing in Letterkenny, Cork, Dingle, Kilkenny, Nenagh, Wexford, Ennis and Salthill in Galway with full details available on www.davidgray.ie
