Dundalk born singer/songwriter Cathy Maguire’s album Ireland in Song has been added to the Irish Traditional Music Archive in Merrion Square in Dublin.
The album, which is the companion CD to a TV programme that Cathy was involved in of the same title, was released last year.
It explores ten of the most famous Irish songs including ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Carrickfergus’, ‘Fields of Athenry’ and ‘The Parting Glass’.
Commenting on the honour via her Facebook page, the Manhattan-based songstress said: “I visited the archive many times while I was researching for my degree dissertation and as a country singer, I never in my wildest dreams thought that an Irish album of mine would one day be added to the collection there!
“I am most thankful to the people who have helped along the way, in particular to producer and music extraordinaire Gabriel Donohue.”
