Copper piping stolen in Dundalk

A quantity of copper piping was stolen in Dundalk overnight.

The incident came to light after cabling was set alight at Grange Drive in Muirhevnamor.

Dundalk Fire Service were called to the scene and brought the blaze quickly under control.

Man arrested following attempted robbery of hot water cylinder in Castleross

Gardaí arrested a man in Castleross, off the Castletown Road, in the early hours of this morning in connection with the attempted theft of a hot water cylinder and copper piping from a house in the estate.

Dundalk Fire Service and the Gardaí were called to the scene around 3.30am, with the property having suffered severe water damage as a result of the incident.

A 32-year-old man was apprehended and brought to Dundalk Garda Station for questioning.
