Aidan O’Brien’s racehorse Camelot will not be making an appearance at Dundalk Stadium, after being retired to stud today.

Speculation had been rife last week that O’Brien could race the Derby-winning horse at Dundalk as a way of feeling him back into action following injury.

O’Brien was quoted as saying he may race Camelot at either Ascot or Dundalk to prepare him for the Breeders’ Cup in November.

However, Coolmore announced today that the four-year-old has been retired after being found lame this morning.

Camelot won last year’s 2000 Guineas and was unbeaten as a two-year-old.
