New coffee shop for Dundalk?

starbucks_logo_by_takako_and_merieru-d45qp2nStarbucks could be on the way to Dundalk.

Sources have informed Talk of the Town that the popular coffee chain are looking at the possibility at opening a store in the Marshes Shopping Centre.

It is understood that the coffee company may look to set up in the existing Heaven boutique, opposite Penney’s, which is closing shortly.

Were the coffee house to open it would put them in direct competition with The Bagel Bar Coffee House upstairs and Costa Coffee in the centre of the mall.

To date Starbucks has only been available to buy locally in The Coffee Room at the Northlink Retail Park on the Coes Road and at an outlet in Dundalk IT.

A potential opening would follow hot on the heels of another coffee house’s closure with The Black Forest Café in Park Street recently closing its doors. A second outlet of Costa Coffee did recently open in the new Tesco Extra though.

One of Dundalk’s newest coffee shops, Black & White Living, brightened up the day for Garth Brooks fans in Dundalk today by delivering coffee to them as they queued for tickets.

The Coes Road store, run by local businessman Niall Wiseman, delivered a tray of hot beverages to those waiting patiently outside News & Deli in Park Street for tickets to go on sale at 9am tomorrow for the country superstar’s Croke Park gigs on July 25th and 26th.

This act of kindness follows from our news earlier today that Sevens Coaches are set to provide shelter to those in the queue later tonight by providing a complimentary bus for them.

Meanwhile, thanks to Paddy Mac and Dundalk FM for sharing the below pictures with us of the queue in good spirits as they enter the final 14 hours of their wait, which for some began as early as yesterday morning.
