Multi-touch textbook publisher ePublish were interviewed on The Right Hook programme on Newstalk yesterday evening.

The Dundalk business, headed up by Clive Friary, featured in a ‘Kickstart Your Business’ segment on the show with Clive explaining to presenter George Hook how the idea for ePublish came about and what the company was all about.

An accountant by background, Friary spent three years training teachers in the use of the iPad in the classroom. Appalled by the poor quality of content available to teachers, Clive decided to create and publish enhanced multi-touch textbooks for the educational sector.

Louth’s Giro d’Italia celebrations are to be recorded in an eBook, from new Dundalk digital publisher epublish.ie.

The free to download eBook will feature images and footage from the entire three day visit of Giro d’Italia from Belfast to Dublin, however there will be particular attention given to Dundalk, and Louth’s efforts, with the aim of increasing tourism awareness of County Louth throughout the 51 countries the book will be available in.

Thousands lined the streets and roads of the county to cheer on Giro d’Italia, it was a huge community effort and something epublish.ie wanted to get involved with, founder Clive Friary said.

He added: “We want to create an eBook that will suit keen cycling fans throughout the world as well as promote our area, cycling routes etc. Ideally it would be fantastic to see keen cyclists downloading the book, seeing the route, and arranging their cycling holidays here.

“We are making it a free to download publication to get it to as big an audience as possible.”

Clive is asking anyone with Giro images, footage etc to join in the project and have their photographs and recordings included.

“We’ve all seen some fantastic photos from the streets of Dundalk or along the road at Castlebellingham, or across the Bridge of Peace at Drogheda.  We want to let the eBook readers see how Giro grabbed the attention of the general public and the atmosphere it created.

“We want to harness that feeling for the good of Dundalk and Louth and create future potential for the region.  All work featured will be credited.”
