Witnesses sought to Louth Village hit and run

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run incident that claimed the life of a man in Louth Village yesterday morning.

The body of Keith Byrne was discovered on the roadside at Carnalogue, Louth Village at 4.40am. The 35-year-old had injuries to his head and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem is due to be carried out today.

Keith was the son of John and Cathy Byrne, with the former well known throughout the county for his involvement with Louth GAA. A former member of the County Board, he was also a popular coach for many years.

The father of five told the Irish Daily Mirror that he would love to see the person caught.

A bricklayer by trade, Keith played GAA in the past for local side St Mochta’s GFC.
