The renovated and rejuvenated Russell’s Saloon opened its doors last night.

The pub at 28 Park Street, also known as the Bus Stop Bar, had been closed in recent years but has been reopened and redesigned by Greg Gormley, who is well known in the local pub game from running The Castle Bar in Seatown.

Greg’s father Noel also operated Gormley’s pub, now The Punters, in Park Street for a number of years.

Russell’s Tavern first opened as a bar in 1907 and has been a constant on Park Street since then, having also operated as a travel agency for some years. Indeed, its clock – which is now back working – still remains one of the most prominent features on the street.

Be sure to pop in and check it out next time you’re out for a few drinks!

Russell’s to open in the next fortnight

The pub at 28 Park Street is well known as The Bus Stop Bar but has been closed for some time.

Now though, Greg Gormley has taken it over and is completely redesigning the premises.

Greg is well known in the local pub game from running The Castle Bar in Seatown, with Russell’s expected to stock a number of craft beers when it opens. It will also carry a range of fine wines and serve cocktails.

The bar are currently hiring bar staff, floor staff, waiters and waitresses and door persons.

The building was sold last summer by local estate agents Property Partners Laurence Gunne, with Gormley understood to have paid below its €100,000 asking price.

The Bus Stop Bar in Park Street is currently on the market for €100,000 with local estate agents Property Partners Laurence Gunne.

Formerly Russell’s, the pub has been closed for some time but is now available at one of the lowest prices seen for a main street pub in the area for some time.

It comes with rear access and has a strategic location outside a bus stop.

Meanwhile, John Tobin Estate Agents in Carrickmacross are looking to lease The Ploughman’s Inn in Louth Village at a cost of €250 per week.
