A new barber shop has opened its doors in Dundalk.

Sweeney’s Barbers is located at 31 Castletown Road, opposite the Beehive Newsagents.

Sweeney’s will offer mens cuts from just €9, with OAPs and boys under 12 €7.

Dundalk lotto winner collects jackpot

Dundalk’s newest millionaire collected his cheque for 3.98 million at National Lottery Headquarters in Dublin today.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, is from the area and believed to be retired. He learnt of his win after hearing the numbers read out on an LMFM news bulletin on Thursday.

The lucky winner said he always believed he would win the lotto and now hopes to spend his winnings on a new house and a holiday.

The winning ticket for Wednesday night’s draw was sold at the Beehive shop on the Castletown Road.

Speculation has been rife around Dundalk all morning as to the identity of the town’s newest millionaire.

The winning Lotto ticket for €3.98 million was sold in the Beehive store on the Castletown Road, with the winner yet to come forward since news of the win broke this morning.

However, Niall Kehoe of Dixon’s Wedding Cars have thrown down the gauntlet to the winner to come forward by offering to chauffeur them for free to the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin to pick up their cheque.

Posting on the O’Connell’s Bar Facebook page, which the family also run, Niall said: “Right folks congratulations to who ever won the lotto in the bee hive last nite we at Dixons wedding cars will give you the rolls Royce phantom for free to collect your winnings yes free of charge just private male me or call into our office in bridge street collect it in style.”

We await to see if the offer will be accepted or not but it would be a good way for the winner to get used to their new millionaire status.

There could be a new millionaire in Dundalk after last night’s winning lotto ticket was sold on the Castletown Road.

The winning ticket was sold in the Beehive store, with the lucky winner set to collect a cheque for €3.98m.

The winning numbers drawn were 2, 4, 9, 12, 28, 31 and the bonus was 35. The winning ticket was said to have been a €6 quick pick.

The Beehive is run by Catherine and Jerome Sheerin, with the Lotto win a fantastic way for the couple to mark 30 years in business having taken over the shop in 1983.
