Louth County Council has advised bathers not to swim at Clogherhead Beach until further notice due to concerns over the quality of the water.
In a statement on its website, the council said they “will continue to monitor the quality of the water at Clogherhead Beach, and advises bathers to check the information notice board and the Council’s website” for updates.

We’ve all either gone or been tempted to go to the beach in recent days because of the superb weather but despite how good it has been, it’s doubtful Blackrock has seen crowds like in the picture above for some time.

Around this time of year we all dream of lying back on a beach somewhere. For those of us who can’t make it to more tropical climates though, the ones on our doorstep aren’t half bad.
Take this picture, for example, of Shelling Hill Beach – as shared with us by Sharon McQuaid. Certainly one of the finest beaches in the region – even when the weather isn’t wonderful.
